Relationships

Relationships are a lot like Chinese finger traps. What do I mean by this? Well, think about how your fingers get trapped in one of these things if you keep pulling them in opposite directions. On the other hand (no pun intended), if you push them towards each other, then you're able to free both fingers.

Imagine you are one finger and your partner (whether it be lover, friend, business partner, etc) was the other. If both of you pull in opposite directions, that is, if you are only concerned with your own wants and needs, then you'll end up stuck and constricted. But, if both of you (and this does require both parties to participate) have the other person's needs in mind and place them above your own, then you'll both be free and happy.
Naturally, you'll come closer to one another, therefore finding solutions that will benefit the both of you and make the relationship stronger.

Bottom line- relationships that exist only for personal gain do not last. If you want a successful relationship, then you cannot be greedy. You should place the other person's wants and needs above yours. It might sound stupid at first...but trust me, it works!

PS- I didn't take this from some book. I actually learned this in a couples retreat I attended with my fiancee months ago. Today, it dawned on me that the the Chinese finger trap was a great way to explain this principle to others. It allows us to understand the importance of communication and sacrifice for the joining of two separate parties and/or individuals.

I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world. I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options.

I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

My loyal best friend, partner and brother, Solar, has been at my side through it all and has been made my health proxy by myself on all matters relating to myself. He has been with me by my side on my many hospital stays, operations, doctors visits and stayed with me at my home and cared for me when I could not care for myself. Solar and his family is my family and I love them dearly and I expect my family, friends, and fans to respect that, regardless to anybody's feelings on the matter. It is my wish that counts. This being said I am survived by the love of my life, my sun KC, who I trust will be looked after by Solar and his family as their own. Any awards or tributes should be accepted, organized approved by Solar on behalf myself and my son until he is of age to except on his own.

I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce this. I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to do with him in death. Solar has my life story and is well informed on my family situation, as well as the real reason for separating from my ex-DJ. As the sole founder of GangStarr, I am very proud of what GangStarr has meant to the music world and fans. I equally am proud of my Jazzmatazz series and as the father of Hip-Hop/Jazz. I am most proud of my leadership and pioneering efforts on Jazzmatazz 4 for reinvigorating the Hip-Hop/Jazz genre in a time when music quality has reached an all time low. Solar and I have toured in places that I have never been before with GangStarr or Jazzmatatazz and we gained a reputation for being the best on the planet at Hip-Hop/Jazz, as well as the biggest and most influential Hip-Hop/Jazz record with Jazzmatazz 4 of the decade to now. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time. And we as a team were not afraid to push the envelope. To me this is what true artists do! As men of honor we stood tall in the face of small mindedness, greed, and ignorance. As we fought for music and integrity at the cost of not earning millions and for this I will always be happy and proud, and would like to thank the million fans who have seen us perform over the years from all over the world. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time and is my most creative and experimental to date. I hope that our music will receive the attention it deserves as it is some of the best work I have done and represents some of the best years of my life.

During my prison stint, I want my fans to know I love you. I want all of you to know that I appreciate all the mail I get, and this is my way of saying thank you. The F is for Family, Friends, and Fans.

Love. Live. Life. Proceed. Progress. That’s who I am and who I’ll always be. You see, we’re all living on borrowed ti...me, so I’m not worried about this situation. Life happens quick. The more time you spend contemplating what you should have done…you lose valuable time planning what you can and will do. Trying to tear down the past prohibits you from building up your future. So for my time here, my physical will be confined to the yard. My love and my spirit, however, know no boundaries.

I’m in good spirits man, for real. My kids
race through my mind all day. They know they were created with love, so love is how their life will be defined. I just hope my love and adoration for them provides a temporary bandage on a wound I unknowingly inflicted on them.

If the weight of the world is on your shoulders, I beg of you, place it on mine. That’s the least I could do for you, after all you have sacrificed for me. If I could, I’d write each one of you back. Because of this, my team and I have created a website where you can view my letters. Each week I’ll answer as many questions as I possibly can.

Hate is only a form love that hasn’t found a way to express itself logically. Keep sending the letters and I promise keep responding. Thank YOU, thank YOU, thank YOU. Why must people kiss ass?

Every job I've ever had, there has always been at least one Kiss Ass. At least Smithers has an excuse...he's gay and he's in love with his boss! This is not the case for most Kiss Asses you see at the workplace, and for some reason they tend to be girls (probably has to do with their social upbringing). I don't think these people really understand what they're doing when they kiss ass. They see it as normal; they've probably been doing it all their lives. If you were to confront one of them about it or drop a hint (sort of like I did one time), it'll probably go right over their head! Don't worry if you see these people getting the promotion, position, or raise you wanted....don't do it! Remember these words...

"I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees"

Amen to that.

If you haven't heard by now, Fat Tag is a free app available for the iphone that lets you draw with a drip effect (as if you were using a drip marker or KRINK).

Well, the guys over at F.A.T are at again, but this time they've taken it further with the new Fat Tag Deluxe by Katsu. The new app lets you upload pictures and write on them as if you had actually gone there and painted in those places. It also has a lot more features than the original. The new app only costs $1.99 and for any graff head with an iphone or itouch, it is well worth the money. Put it this way...I downloaded the app yesterday and I haven't stopped using it since! Here are a few screen shots:

What a game! Haters, sit down and close your mouths! Dolphins won last night against the Jets. It sure as hell wasn't easy, but they did it. Chad Henne proved himself on this one, lets hope he's got juice left for the rest of the season. Ronnie Brown, as usual, played excellent. Even Tedd Ginn came through with a 53 yard catch from Henne to score a touchdown in the 4th quarter (so crucial).

Jets' coach Rex Ryan had some harsh words to say about his defense. He said they played horrible and the loss was an embarassment: "We made Chad Henne look like Dan Marino". Come on! The Jets played just as good as the Dolphins did plus they get to play us again in two weeks. Lets go Dolphins!!!

Funny, I went to Hot Topic's website right after reading this article and the first thing I saw was "The New Moon Collection is here!". LOL...just thought I'd share that with you.

On a side note, a good friend of mine from high school works at Hot Topic and he's always been into Punk. He's actually in a rock band called "Madmartigan". I wonder what he thinks? Anyways, you can check out their myspace page here, they're pretty good.

Drake and Kid Cudi have yet to make a song together. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that would like to hear them collaborate on a track. These guys are the best newcomers in hip hop right now....no doubt about it.

The Puma crew built a Ferrari F1 car out of clothes! It is made up of 1,500 t-shirts and 88 pairs of jeans. This was done for Puma's store in London. Pretty cool huh?
